The Board of Directors of the Muskoka Lakes Chamber of Commerce announces that Executive Director Norah Fountain will be leaving her position effective December 1, 2026, following 10 years of leadership with the Chamber.
Since joining the Chamber in 2016, Fountain has led a period of substantial growth. Under her leadership, the organization has more than tripled its revenue and expanded membership to almost 400 Members. The organization has also hosted a major convention attended by political leaders from across Ontario, received industry recognition and helped local businesses access funding and supports during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A lifelong Muskokan, Fountain brought deep regional experience in business, economic development, communications and governance. Her leadership has strengthened the Chamber’s role as an advocate and partner for the local business community.
“Norah leaves some very big shoes to fill,” said Board Chair Blake Johnston, “Her knowledge of Muskoka, her business experience and the relationships she has built over the past decade have made an enormous contribution to the Chamber. We will certainly miss her, and we are equally excited about the opportunities ahead.”
Fountain is not retiring. She has accepted a part-time quasi-judicial appointment with the Government of Canada. As an economic development and communications advisor, she plans to continue contributing to Muskoka through projects and opportunities where her experience can support the community.
“I care deeply about our business community and the people we serve,” said Fountain. “I am proud of what we’ve accomplished together and grateful for the relationships I have built with our Board, Members, partners and the broader community.”
Fountain will remain in her role through December 1 to support a smooth leadership transition. The Board is currently working on the recruitment process for a new Executive Director and expects to post the position shortly.
The Board thanks Fountain for her decade of service and looks forward to building on the strong foundation she leaves behind.
