Today marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks on the United States.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the attacks, and many people were affected by the toxins at ground zero afterwards.
In Grey Bruce Saturday, the annual Grey & Bruce County First Responders 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is set to be held at the Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound.
It’s meant to honour the firefighters who died, and represents the 110 flights of stairs they climbed that day.
Proceeds from the climb will go to CMHA Grey Bruce toward Resilient Minds Training for First Responders locally. Local vendors will also be there with service provider resources and more.
The event is open to all first responders, active or retired, including corrections, military, dispatch, EMS, fire, or police in Grey and Bruce Counties.
