Owen Sound Attack rookie camp began this weekend, culminating in an Attack barbecue, which President and General Manager Tyler Nother said did not happen when the season concluded due to the NHL Draft.
Nother and new Head Coach Keenan Reynolds spoke to a room full of rookies’ parents and Attack fans, with Nother saying he is done hearing about last season.
“This is a new chapter for the Owen Sound Attack,” Nother said. “We’ve heard a lot about last season and how that went. I think right now we want to say last season is over, we don’t talk about that anymore, we look forward and see what our future is going to be now.”
He continued to say the organization is excited for the new season and complimented the fans on their continued passion.
“All of you great fans that are here, you are the ones who make this special,” Nother said. “I think some people when they look at the Ontario Hockey League, it’s a small market, but in my opinion, it’s one of our biggest strengths.”
Reynolds then took the microphone and emphasized that the standard was going up, asking fans to give the organization and coaches time to build their foundation.
“We are going to attack the future and play, represent this community in a way that all of you guys here that packed this room can be proud of,” Reynolds said. “Can be really proud of, show up and support on a daily basis in good times and bad times.”
Reynolds added that there is a vision for this team and what it will look like going forward.
The Attack’s home opener is Sept. 19 against the reigning Memorial Cup champion Kitchener Rangers.
