All but three of Huron County’s nine municipalities will have competitions for their government’s top job in the upcoming municipal elections.
Nominations for the October 26th municipal election close at 2:00 p.m. Friday, with candidate certification taking place Monday.
As of publication, only one candidate has applied for the position of Mayor or Reeve in Central Huron, Howick Township, and Morris-Turnberry.
South Huron, North Huron, and Huron East each have three candidates vying for the Mayor’s/Reeve’s position.
Two candidates each have applied to be Mayor of Goderich, and the Municipality of Bluewater.
While three candidates applied for Mayor of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, one candidate has withdrawn their nomination.
Newly elected councils will begin their terms November 17th.
