The Owen Sound Little Theatre has awarded Gregory Nyenhuis this year’s David Leslie Award.
Created in 2011, the David Leslie Award is presented to a graduating student pursuing post-secondary education in theatre arts, providing financial assistance to support their continued studies.
David Leslie was a loyal mainstay of Owen Sound Little Theatre for many years, contributing to many productions, including Oliver!, I Never Sang for My Father, The Runner Stumbles and Bethune.
Nyenhuis, a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, was a part of performances like PUFFS (2026), The Sound of Music (2025) and Arrivals and Departures (2024) held by the school.
Gregory plans to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in theatre studies at the University of Guelph in the fall, where he will continue to develop his skills and contribute to the future of Canadian theatre.
“This bursary keeps my father’s lifelong devotion to theatre alive by supporting the artists of tomorrow,” says Christy Eaglesham, David Leslie’s daughter. “Gregory Nyenhuis is a wonderfully deserving recipient, and our family is honoured to support the next step of his journey.”
