Collingwood and Town of the Blue Mountains OPP, in response to community concerns have conducted a blitz of off-road electric dirt bikes.
Joint patrols throughout the area focused on both rider education and enforcement.
Police say they issued a combination of warnings and charges to riders aged 16 years and older, as well as warnings and charges to parents or guardians of riders under the age of 16.
OPP are reminding residents off-road vehicles, including electric dirt bikes, are prohibited from operating on municipal streets, sidewalks, community parks, and trails within the Town of Collingwood and the Town of The Blue Mountains. These vehicles may only be operated on privately owned or occupied property where permission has been granted.
Riders are legally required to wear a DOT approved helmet, have registration, display the appropriate license plate, have valid insurance and stick to locations where riding is allowed.
