The City of Owen Sound is hosting a household hazardous waste event on Saturday, August 15. The event will be held at the Public Works Facility at 1900 20th St. E. from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
To help move through the line as quickly as possible, residents are asked to bring valid ID showing their home address and to complete the Household Hazardous Waste Form ahead of time at OwenSound.ca/WasteForm.
The event is open to residents from the following participating municipalities:
– City of Owen Sound
– Township of Chatsworth
– Township of Georgian Bluffs
– Municipality of Grey Highlands
– Municipality of Meaford
Hazardous waste from commercial, industrial or farm operations will not be accepted.
Prohibited items include infectious and radioactive wastes, explosives, unidentified waste, and improperly contained waste.
Residents are reminded that improperly contained waste – such as compromised containers, missing lids and leaking materials – poses a health and safety risk, should never be transported, and will not be accepted. Before bringing a damaged container to the site, place it safely inside a clean, labelled container.
