Parts of Huron County are now under a low water advisory.
The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority has issued a Level 1 Low Water Advisory for the area’s watershed, due to below-normal precipitation and declining streamflow conditions.
As part of a Level 1 Low Water Advisory, the ABCA’s Water Response Team is asking all water users to voluntarily reduce their water use by 10 per cent.
“July was significantly drier than normal across the affected watershed, with only about half of the expected monthly rainfall received,” a news release from the ABCA says.
“The prolonged period of hot, dry weather resulted in continued declines in streamflow and increasing pressure on local water resources.”
The ABCA says recent rainfall has provided some relief, but not enough to improve conditions substantially.
