The Tobermory Community Centre is getting a makeover.
The community centre will be getting new flooring as the current tile flooring has been damaged.
The main hall’s current tile floor has suffered from moisture bubbling, leading to increased deterioration, cracking and separation.
The tiles date back to the community centre’s construction in 1988 and have exceeded their lifespan. While individual tiles have been patched or replaced in the past as a temporary fix, the deterioration has returned because the underlying moisture issues were never resolved.
The projected cost for the new flooring is about $79,500, and the installation is expected to last at least 25 years.
The main hall hosts a variety of activities – including meetings, events, dances and sports like pickleball – that experience heavy wear from footwear, tables, chairs and equipment carts.
