As a regional transit study continues for the region, interim bus service continues through the involved counties.
Bruce, Grey, Dufferin, and Wellington Counties, along with Saugeen Mobility and Regional Transit (SMART) have expanded interim bus service across the region as work continues into a longer-term regional transit study.
In order to make sure riders are stranded without service, interim routes across the region are being continued or expanded.
– Grey Transit Route (GTR) 2 connecting Dundalk and Orangeville and Guelph Owen Sound Transit (GOST) will continue to operate
– GTR Route 5, connecting Owen Sound and Wiarton, is being re-introduced in Fall 2026
– A seasonal extension of Route 5 to Sauble Beach will be considered for Summer 2027 to help cover peak tourism season, pending funding approval
The Bruce-Dufferin-Grey-Wellington Regional Transit Study is a collaborative initiative where the four counties work with SMART to create a unified regional transit network.
The purpose of the transit network is to connect communities, and help those without access to a vehicle.
