Owen Sound North Stars girls’ field lacrosse players Scarlett Stevenson and Olyvia Wagner captured Ontario Summer Games (OSG) gold on Sunday, helping Team Blue secure a thrilling 15-13 championship victory over Team Maroon in Kitchener-Waterloo.
Team Maroon earned silver after advancing to the final with a semifinal win over Team Green. North Stars Leah Cooper and Avery Seaman suited up for Team Maroon, while Team Green featured four Owen Sound players – Sarah Barfoot, Reese Harvey, Lily Shute, and Ella Todd. Team Green was led by North Stars alumni Reese Wilkins and current North Star Taryn Weppler behind the bench.
Team Blue reached the championship by defeating Team Orange in the semifinals. Team Orange went on to claim the bronze medal with a 12-9 win over Team Green. North Stars Callie Sarvis and Avery Thompson represented Team Orange.
Additional Owen Sound athletes competing at the OSG included Jenna Cranny with Team Pink and Addison McCoubrey with Team Purple. Team Purple defeated Team Pink 12-11 in the consolation final.
In total, six North Stars players earned medals at the Ontario Summer Games, capping off three days of highly competitive lacrosse action.
