Members of the Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a robbery on Main Street East in Huntsville.
On July 30th, 2026, at approximately 9:33 a.m., police received a report that a citizen had been approached by a male who was carrying an object who demanded the keys to the victim’s vehicle, and fled the area in the stolen vehicle at a high rate of speed.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Officers from several OPP detachments responded to the incident, assisted by the OPP K9 Unit and the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT).
At approximately 10:15 a.m., the stolen vehicle was located traveling southbound on Highway 11 near Canning Road in the Town of Gravenhurst. Officers successfully deployed a tire deflation device, safely bringing the vehicle to a stop.
The male driver was taken into custody without incident.
As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old from Toronto, was arrested and charged with:
· Robbery with Weapon
· Disguise with Intent
· Dangerous Operation
· Operation while Prohibited
· Driving while under Suspension
· Possession Property obtained by Crime Over $5000
· Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
· Failure to comply with Release Order X 2
· Fail to comply with Probation Order X 2
The accused has been held for a bail hearing.
