The Town of Hanover will be removing the old water tower on 7th Avenue in early August.
After the new water tower was completed in 2025, the previous structure reached the end of its service life.
The project is expected to take approximately 12 weeks to complete, with crews dismantling the structure in sections. Work will occur Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Residents and businesses in the area may notice increased activity around the project site during construction. The town anticipates minimal disruption and will maintain access to nearby homes, businesses, health-care facilities and services throughout the project. Any temporary impacts or disruptions will be communicated in advance.
Director of Development & Infrastructure / Chief Building Official Andrew Wilken also ensures that no impact should happen to the water service.
“With the new tower going through its commissioning process right now,” says Wilken. “The timing align really well that the new tower will be online almost instantaneously with the old tower being decommissioned, so there should be no affects to the service.”
Following demolition and site cleanup, the area will be restored. Information regarding any future use of the site will be shared as plans are finalized.
