Meaford firefighters say no one was injured in a large residential fire Tuesday evening.
They say they responded to a report of a structure fire on Nelson Street just after 7:30pm.
According to the fire department on social media, when responding units first arrived, there was a working structure fire at a residence that also caught the neighbouring house to the east on fire due to wind and initial fire conditions.
They say everyone made it out of the structures safely.
Over 35 firefighters responded to assist.
Crews battled both house fires until 1:30a.m., Wednesday, and were on the scene until about 3 a.m.
The Meaford Fire Department says, “We would like to thank everyone involved with assisting us: Municipality of Meaford, Hydro One, Ontario Provincial Police – West Region, Grey County EMS, Inter Township Fire Department Serving Georgian Bluffs and Meaford, Town of Blue Mountains Fire Department and Grey Highlands Fire & Emergency Services- who staffed our fire hall while all of our trucks responded.”
