An approval has been given by Bruce County council to temporarily reduce speed limits on Bruce Roads 2 and 3, to accommodate the 2026 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo.
The County’s Transportation and Environmental team proposed the changes as the area would be a main travel route for competitors and attendees to the event, particularly surrounding the intersection of Bruce Road 2 and Bruce Road 3.
The move is to address public safety concerns, and was discussed amongst county staff, the municipality of Brockton, and the International Plowing Match committee.
The reduced speed limits will lower the current postings of 80km/hr to 40km/hr, with the required 60km/hr transition zones.
The temporary speed limit reduction will be in effect from Tuesday, September 15th until Thursday, October 1st.
The total cost for temporary signage and other materials to compete the work will cost the county $4,000, which is covered by the existing 2026 operating budget.
The 2026 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo will be held outside of Walkerton from September 22nd to 26th.
