There’s a road closure in Owen Sound today for natural gas maintenance work.
A notice from the city says 8th Street East is closing between 8th Avenue East and 9th Avenue East — at the top of the hill — from today until the end of July.
The closure is for “essential maintenance work on the natural gas distribution system.
The advisory from the city says during the closure:
-Local traffic will continue to have access to properties on 8th Street East from the 8th Avenue East intersection.
-Through traffic on 8th Street East will be closed at the 9th Avenue East intersection.
-Southbound traffic on 9th Avenue East will be reduced to one lane while entering and exiting the intersection at 8th Street East.
-Northbound through traffic on 9th Ave East will remain impacted.
-The northwest sidewalk at the intersection of 8th Street East and 9th Avenue East will be temporarily diverted; an accessible temporary pedestrian crossing will be provided approximately 20 metres west of 9th Avenue East to maintain safe access across 8th Street East.
Public transit routes that travel the closed section will also be affected with detours, and some closed bus stops.
