Grey Bruce Public Health is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the owners of dogs involved in two unrelated biting incidents this week – one in Owen Sound and another in Hanover.
The Owen Sound incident occurred Tuesday around 11:30 a.m. near the duck pond at Harrison Park. A mother and her son were walking in the area when they crossed paths with a woman walking two dogs. One of them was bitten after the woman lost control of the dogs.
Both dogs were medium-sized and wearing collars and leashes. One was a retriever-mix breed with blonde colouring, while the other was an unknown breed with brindle colouring.
The Hanover incident took place Wednesday at about 7:30 p.m. outside an apartment building at 160 11th Ave. An individual was bitten by a large, black bullmastiff-type dog that was running loose. The victim believes the owner lives nearby.
Public health staff need to identify the dogs to verify they are not infectious with rabies.
