Lucian Bernat is joining the Owen Sound Attack.
The team announced Tuesday morning the signing of the 2025 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft selection to an Ontario Hockey League Scholarship and Development agreement.
Bernat, 18, is from Slovakia and was selected by the Attack in the second-round, 75th overall, in the 2025 CHL Import Draft. But the Attack didn’t manage to sign any of their import selections, and went through the 2025-26 season without any import players on their roster.
CHL clubs are permitted to roster up to three import players.
Bernat spent the 2025-26 season playing in Finland’s U20 league, recording 31 points (15-16–31) in 37 games. He also skated for Slovakia at the U18 World Championship in his home country in April.
A 6-foot-4, 201-pound winger, Bernat was ranked No. 39 among international skaters by NHL Central Scouting for the 2026 NHL Draft, which gets underway Friday.
“We are thrilled to welcome Lucian and his family to the Owen Sound Attack,” says Attack President and GM Tyler Nother in a release. ” Lucian is a player we feel can make an impact in our league right away, and one Attack fans will appreciate watching at the Bayshore, due to his combination of skill and size.”
Bernat will wear No. 90 for the Attack.
The 2026 CHL Import Draft will be held next Tuesday, June 30.
