A Kincardine man faces charges after crashing his vehicle into a ditch in Saugeen Shores, and then allegedly trying to run from police officers.
Saugeen Shores Police say they received a report just prior to 5:30 p.m. Saturday evening of a vehicle in a ditch on Bruce-Saugeen Townline. Town police officers attended the scene and tried to speak with the driver, but he allegedly fled on foot through several yards.
The OPP Emergency Response Team and K9 Unit were called in to assist. A containment area was set up, and police say they received reports about suspicious activity around Bruce Road 40 and B Line.
“As a result of co-ordinated effort, a 32-year-old male of Kincardine was located and arrested at 7:52pm in an open area on Sideroad 18/19,” Saugeen Shores Police say in a statement.
The 32-year-old Kincardine man is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, resist arrest, possession of a controlled substance and other offences.
The accused was also wanted by the OPP for other criminal offences. Saugeen Shores Police say custody was transferred to the OPP for a bail hearing held Sunday.
