A building demolition is getting underway in downtown Owen Sound today.
The City of Owen Sound issued an advisory saying the building at 994 1st Avenue East has been identified as a safety hazard, and “requires removal to meet insurance safety standards.”
The city is completing the demolition in partnership with Priestly Demolition Contractors.
The building is located near 10th Street East, close to the Gitche Namewikwedong Bridge.
1st Avenue East will be closed to vehicular traffic between 9th and 10th Streets East during the demolition project.
It’s expected to be completed by the end of June.
