McDonald’s Restaurant in Meaford marked its reopening with a donation to the Brightshores Hospital Foundation.
Brightshores Foundation Chief Executive Officer Amy McKinnon was on hand at a ceremony yesterday and accepted a $5,000 contribution from McDonald’s franchisee Steve Sgro.
“The donation today will be used to help refurbish and upgrade the reflection room at the Meaford hospital,” McKinnon says. “It’s really a space for patients and their families to go and have some quiet time.”
McKinnon adds Steve and Christine Sgro are community leaders who have been major supporters of Brightshores.
The donation came as part of the McDonald’s Restaurant in Meaford’s reopening festivities.
“It’s a beautiful store now – everything is the latest edition, everything is up to date,” Sgro says. “There’s nothing from last year, never mind last decade.”
He says everything was renovated, from the bathrooms and lobby to behind the counter. And the newest feature is a double drive-thru.
“Our drive-thru before was just overloaded. No matter how fast we worked, we just couldn’t get more cars through,” Sgro says. “With the side-by-side drive-thru now, that will greatly expand how many cars we can serve.”
