Bruce Power’s supplier partners have donated $50,000 to the new OSHaRE Food Depot in Owen Sound.
OSHaRE cut the ribbon May 30 on its new food depot, which will allow it to access and store more free food to support the work of its local partner agencies and expand its local food rescue and donation efforts.
“Bruce Power’s suppliers are proud to support this important program with a $50,000 donation,” says Bruce Power’s director of community and external affairs Maggie Tieman. “Food insecurity is an ongoing challenge regionally, and we’re thankful for the generosity of Bruce Power’s suppliers and the dedication of OSHaRE to helping local people access fresh and healthy food.”
Executive director of OSHaRE Colleen Trask Seaman says the 2,700-square-foot depot will increase the organization’s capacity to accept skids of fresh, frozen and non-perishable foods.
The items will be shared through the Grey Bruce Food Share program, which assists families across Grey and Bruce counties.
“The new OSHaRE Depot would not have been possible without the incredible support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation and partners like Bruce Power’s suppliers,” Trask Seaman says “Thanks to the generosity of Bruce Power’s suppliers, this program expansion provides the stability and sustainability needed to support more individuals and families across our region.”
