The Grey-Bruce One World Festival is marking its 15th in-person event this year at the Owen Sound Farmers’ Market.
The festival, which is free, runs June 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It is held to raise awareness of Grey-Bruce’s rich heritage, promote understanding and acceptance and celebrate diversity, sharing and learning.
The event also includes activities at the Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library and the Tom Thomson Art Gallery.
This year’s festival includes an opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m. featuring dignitaries and the École St.-Dominique-Savio school choir.
A long lineup of performances is planned, including Emily Bi on the Chinese zither and the Mexican Youth Collective Dancers. At 11:30 a.m. at the market, a mass choir featuring four school classes will perform Maple Key, a new song by Suresh. There will also be performances by the Owen Sound Dance Academy, the REACH Centre choir, and the M’Wikwedong Singers and Drummers.
The festival will feature 22 diverse presentations and activities in the market, a community art project at the art gallery and the Diverse Film Fest at the library.
