The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce is expanding its School Age programs in Port Elgin for the 2026/2027 school year.
In partnership with the Bluewater District School Board, Port Elgin-Saugeen Central School and Northport Elementary School will each gain 41 more spots for their School Age programs.
“This expansion reflects what we’re hearing from families in our community,” says YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce Director of Child Care Cyndy Jefferson. “We know that access to consistent, dependable care is essential for families balancing work and home life, and we’re committed to growing our programs in a way that supports both children and caregivers.”
YMCA School Age programs are designed to provide not only care but also an inclusive environment where children can build friendships, develop confidence, and feel a strong sense of belonging.
Through the YMCA’s A Place to Connect curriculum, children participate in play-based experiences that aim to support their physical, social, and emotional development while encouraging leadership, creativity, and problem-solving.
