The Owen Sound Fire Department will be knocking on doors in the northeast section of the city on Friday as part of their Home Visitation Program.
This program promotes fire safety, strengthens community connections, and allows firefighters to answer any questions from the public.
“Community safety is built on trust. education, and meaningful connection.” says Mayor Ian Boddy. “The Home Visitation Program allows our firefighters to meet residents where they are, share important safety information, and support households in being prepared.”
Running for more than a decade, the fire department’s Home Visitation Program sees firefighters ask to enter and inspect fire alarms and carbon monoxide detectors in homes.
Owen Sound Fire Prevention Officer Matt Given says the success of the program means a lot to the fire department.
“It’s getting out there … so it’s nice to reach people,” Given says.
