Flooding has delayed the opening of Whispering Pines Family Campground in Hepworth.
The Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound — which owns and operates the campground — says standing water has created heath and safety concerns as it has impacted hydro service, septic, potable water, the main office and maintenance facilities.
The new tentative opening date is June 1. The Kiwanis Club says that’s subject to further delays if the flooding continues.
“Partial refunds for 2026 site fees reflecting the reduced season will be issued to those campers that have prepaid,” the Kiwanis Club says in a release.
No trespassing signs have been posted at the front gate of Whispering Pines Family Campground. Confirmation of when the campground is opening will be sent to seasonal campers one week before the gates open.
