South Huron leads the way in municipal election candidates registered during the opening weekend.
Nominations opened Friday for the upcoming Ontario Municipal election on October 26th, 2026.
As of publication, four nominees in South Huron have submitted papers for the upcoming election, including three for Mayor (Maureen Cole, Ted Oke, and incumbent George Finch), and one each for Ward 1 (Patricia Desjardine-Soer) and Ward 2 (Aaron Neeb).
The only other lower-tier government in Huron County to have a registered candidate is Goderich, with Steve Buchanan running to replace current Mayor Trevor Bazinet.
The deadline for nominations is August 21st, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
