The United Way of Bruce Grey, in partnership with the Bruce Grey Poverty Task Force and community organizations, is launching a new webinar series focused on helping older adults better understand retirement income and available supports.
The free series, titled Retiring on a Low Income for Seniors in Grey Bruce, will be offered on three dates this spring:
- May 8th: What Seniors Get (Government Incomes)
- May 22nd: Income Tax Systems
- June 5th: Parallel Universe — the financial reality for low-income seniors when conventional financial advice may not apply
Organizers say the webinars are intended for adults aged 45 to 65, particularly those with low or moderate incomes, as well as individuals accessing Ontario Works or the Ontario Disability Support Program.
The sessions will be led by John Stapleton, founder of Open Policy Ontario. Stapleton has nearly three decades of experience with the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services and currently serves as a Policy Fellow with the National Institute on Ageing.
Francesca Dobbyn of United Way of Bruce Grey says participants will receive clear, practical guidance grounded in real-world policy and experience.
Webinars will be hosted in person at 11 community hubs across the region, including Owen Sound, Hanover, Kincardine, Port Elgin, Meaford, Thornbury, Dundalk and Markdale.
Registration details are available through the United Way of Bruce Grey website.
