The derelict resort buildings and ski lift infrastructure at Talisman Mountain Resort will be demolished by the owner – The Bruce Trail Conservancy.
The move removes the threat of development on the 134 acres of land.
The BTC launched a $7.5 million fundraising campaign to support the permanent protection of the land, removal of the buildings and ski lift infrastructure, intense ecological remediation and restoration, and the ongoing stewardship of the land and its habitats.
To date, $3.36 million has been raised with the support of private donors and Environment and Climate Change Canada through the Ontario Land Trust Alliance.
The start date for the demolition has not yet been decided on. Talisman closed in 2011.
