The Bruce Trail Conservancy plans to demolish the former Talisman Mountain Resort buildings.
They say in a release, “This decision forever removes the threat of development on these lands, which have been the subject of large-scale development speculation since the resort closed in 2011.”
The conservancy purchased the ‘middle lands’ of the resort area in November of 2025.
They say in a release this week, they plan to demolish the derelict resort buildings and ski lift infrastructure and conserve 134 acres.
“The restoration of this property will be one of the most ambitious conservation efforts undertaken in the 60-year history of the Bruce Trail.”
The Bruce Trail Conservancy says it has launched a $7.5 million fundraising campaign to support the permanent protection of these lands, removal of the buildings and ski lift infrastructure, intense ecological remediation and restoration, and the ongoing stewardship of the land and its habitats.
