Huron County Ontario Provincial Police say officers and paramedics responded just after 3 p.m. on April 22 to a collision near the intersection of Smith Street and Ontario Street in the Municipality of Central Huron.
Emergency crews found a youth who had been hit by a passenger vehicle. The teen was transported to a local hospital and later airlifted to London. Injuries were described as serious but non-life threatening.
Police say the driver remained at the scene.
On April 24, a 41-year-old driver from Huron East was charged with careless driving causing bodily harm, failing to surrender a vehicle permit, and failing to surrender a driver’s licence.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice.
Police are reminding motorists to use caution near crosswalks, residential areas, and school zones, and to ensure pedestrians have safely crossed before proceeding.
