A free public stargazing event aimed at promoting dark sky protection is being held tonight in Kemble.
The “GO DARK” event takes place beginning at dusk on Wednesday, April 22, at the Kemble Athletic Field.
The evening is being hosted by Owen Sound Sidewalk Astronomy along with dark sky advocate Richard Suchow.
Organizers say the event recognizes the importance of protecting dark skies in the best interests of people, communities, and wildlife.
A number of co-hosts are expected to take part, including amateur astronomers, citizen scientists, and local residents interested in reducing light pollution and preserving the night sky.
Admission is free and open to everyone. Attendees are welcome to bring telescopes or binoculars, although organizers say equipment will also be available for public use.
Anyone interested in astronomy, the night sky, or dark sky preservation is encouraged to attend.
