The Beer Store is marking Earth Day by offering customers 20 per cent more value on empty alcohol container returns Wednesday, April 22.
The one-day promotion adds 20 per cent to the regular 10-cent and 20-cent deposit refunds for eligible beer, wine, and spirit containers purchased in Ontario.
The offer is only available at Beer Store retail locations. While deposits can also be reclaimed through authorized Empty Container Dealers, the Earth Day bonus does not apply there. Kegs are excluded.
Beer Store President Roy Benin says millions of people return approximately 1.6 billion empty alcohol containers every year for reuse and recycling.
He says Earth Day is a great opportunity for customers to clean out their basement or garage, reclaim their deposits, and support recycling efforts.
The Beer Store says it has collected more than 170 billion empty alcohol containers for reuse or recycling during nearly 100 years of operation.
Customers can find participating locations using the “Where to Return Empties” tool on the Beer Store website.
