The contractor working on South Bruce Peninsula’s new town hall has a progress update.
Jamie Hastings of Allen Hastings Ltd. says in a video update to social media, “Demolition, we’ve got about 65 per cent complete. Next thing to happen– exterior walls are going to come off.”
He adds, “We’re cutting the main floor trenches for plumbing rough-ins. Shop drawings and all the ordering is well underway for this project and things are looking great.”
The new town hall is located in the old Sobeys grocery store which overlooks Colpoy’s Bay and Bluewater Park.
It’s a $9.6 million dollar renovation of half of the old store, with town hall expected to be operational in 2027.
The Town says the current location is cramped and requires major upgrades, including improved accessibility.
Meanwhile, South Bruce Peninsula council has given Town staff the green light to look into the possibility of using the other half of the new town hall building for a family health team.
The South Bruce Peninsula Family Health Organization to lease roughly 8,000 sq ft of space. That process is still in its very early, conceptual stages.
