Owen Sound’s leaf and yard waste site is open for the season.
The 28th Avenue East facility is open 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week. It’s available to Owen Sound, Meaford and Georgian Bluffs residents to drop off grass clippings, small branches and other yard waste.
“Proof of residency may be required; users are expected to have their driver’s license or other proof of residency, such as a tax or utility bill, on hand,” a release from City Hall explains.
Potentially new this year is a $200 annual fee for contractors to use the city’s leaf and yard waste site. That possible change is still subject to council approval.
Items such as plastic bags, garbage, food and pet waste, and treated wood are not permitted at the yard waste site.
