The Sewage Treatment Plant in Collingwood had to go on a full treatment bypass just before 8 this morning (Wed., Apr 15) releasing untreated waste water into Georgian Bay.
The Town says significant rainfall received in Collingwood, is putting pressure on the system. There was a partial bypass yesterday.
Monitoring, testing, and reporting are being completed as required.
Residents are being asked to limit water use during this time to alleviate pressure. Avoid doing laundry, and limit showers and toilet flushing. And ensure sump pumps are functioning properly.
The town’s drinking water is not effected by these measures.
