Owen Sound Police say they arrested a 29-year-old man after an alleged robbery and assault at a business in the city’s west end on Sunday.
Police say they received a call from the business’ shopkeeper around 11 a.m. yesterday morning, reporting a man was in his store and stealing merchandise.
City Police say when the shopkeeper intervened, he was punched in the face by the suspect and suffered “significant injuries.”
“The shopkeeper was transported to hospital by Grey County EMS where he received emergency treatment, including surgery,” Owen Sound Police say in a release.
The 29-year-old male suspect was arrested at the scene by Owen Sound Police. He was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, theft and breach of probation.
Owen Sound Police say the accused was out on bail at the time of the incident on previous assault, theft and breach of probation charges.
Police did not disclose the specific business this incident occurred at.
