The Town of Saugeen Shores is starting the environmental assessment phase of its proposal to expand the capacity of its landfill in Southampton.
The landfill is expected to be full by 2030 or 2032.
Over the next 40 years, the town could generate 330,000 tonnes of waste.
There was a meeting in October of 2024 to discuss the future of the landfill that is located in Southampton. A long term plan for the landfill and the residual waste that isn’t diverted, is being developed.
