Southern Georgian Bay OPP were called to a single-vehicle collision in Tiny Township on Thursday evening, and were able to charge the driver after help from community members.
Bystanders intervened following the collision until police were able to arrive just after 7pm.
When officers arrived to the scene at Macavalley Road, they found that a pickup truck had left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The vehicle was on its side and emitting smoke.
Nearby residents stopped the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle from leaving the scene.
Police took the driver to the Southern Georgian Bay detachment, and found that their licence was suspended for 7 days because of a previous warn-range alcohol reading
The 41-year-old driver was charged with dangerous operation, driving without a licence, and driving against conditions.
