The Town of Saugeen Shores will be doing some major road construction starting in mid April.
The construction to add a roundabout will take place at the intersection of Highway 21 and Bruce Road 13. This is the intersection near the Southampton Foodland.
The town has said this project to add a roundabout will improve safety and reduce congestion. From a study the town conducted in 2021, the study showed a high number of people speeding and a number of “close calls.”

The town has been awarded $1.35 million from the Ministry of Transportation’s Connecting Links program.
Work Planned On Highway 21 In Southampton
There will be a pre-construction meeting for this project on April 1st from 4:300 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Southampton Town Hall.
During Phase 2, there will be a detour in place as well as emergency detours if needed.
