The province’s Special Investigations Unit invoked its mandate after an arrest in Meaford involving a police dog.
Grey Bruce OPP say they were called to a disturbance at a residence about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday evening. One individual fled the scene, and police spent the next few hours trying to locate the suspect.
Provincial Police say the individual was located shortly before 2 a.m. early Thursday morning by members of the OPP Canine Unit.
“During the arrest, the individual was gripped by a police service dog and transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” OPP say in a release. “As the SIU has invoked its mandate, the OPP will not be able to provide further information.”
