The Town of Saugeen Shores is taking action regarding the delayed Cedar Crescent Village (CCV) development on the Port Elgin waterfront.
According to the Town, it has cooperated with the project’s developer for several years in an effort to move the development forward, including granting extensions to key deadlines. Despite those efforts, the project did not progress as required under the Lease and Site Works and Servicing Agreement, and failed to meet a critical construction milestone on February 2, 2026.
A comprehensive review of the CCV project and its associated agreements has now been completed. As a result, the Town says it is asserting its rights under those agreements, which include the right to terminate the lease.
Town officials acknowledge the long-standing public interest in the Port Elgin waterfront and the Cedar Crescent Village project. However, because next steps may involve court intervention, the Town says it is limited in what it can publicly comment on at this time.
Council has thanked residents for their patience and understanding as the matter moves forward.
