New medical imaging is now available in Wingham.
The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance has announced Bone Mineral Density (BMD) testing is now available at Wingham Hospital.
BMD testing is a key screening tool used to detect early signs of bone loss and identify patients at increased risk for fragility fractures.
“This is an important step forward for the Alliance and for the patients we serve,” says Esther Millar, President & CEO, LWHA.
“With Bone Mineral Density testing now available locally, more people can access timely screening and diagnostic support close to home, helping clinicians intervene earlier and helping patients maintain independence, mobility, and quality of life.”
The introduction of the BMD is among numerous diagnostic announcements in recent years for the Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance.
A CT scanner was purchased by the Wingham Hospital in early 2025, while the alliance also introduced breast cancer screening technology to reduce wait times from 11 weeks to 4-5 weeks.
The expanded breast cancer screenings include: Digital mammography, contrast mammography, and high-resolution ultrasound for dense breasts.
