A search for a missing man in Georgian Bluffs has been temporarily suspended.
On Monday, January 26th, Grey Bruce OPP received a report that 64-year-old James Van-Veen failed to arrive for his scheduled work shift.
His vehicle was later found unoccupied in the parking lot of the Inglis Falls Conservation Area.
Police immediately initiated search efforts.
Over the following days, extensive search operations were made, and including help from the OPP’s Aviation Services, and the Underwater Search & Recovery Unit.
Ground searches covered multiple trail systems, cliff edges, and escarpment terrain.
Winter conditions, including heavy snow, unstable ice, and hazardous terrain proved to present significant safety risks for search personnel, and police say that the search operations have been temporarily suspended.
James Van-Veen is described as 5’10” tall, 175 lbs, with shoulder-length grey/white hair, a full grey beard, brown eyes, and prescription glasses. He’s believed to be wearing dark overalls and work boots.
