Environment Canada has forecasted extreme cold temperatures for Bracebridge beginning this evening, potentially dropping to -28 degrees Celsius with the wind chill overnight. Temperatures with wind chill values exceeding minus 20 will last through to Tuesday, January 20. Please stay safe in extreme cold temperatures.
- Limit time outdoors;
- Watch for cold related symptoms including shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes;
- Cover up and dress in layers. The outer layer should be wind resistant. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill;
- Check on vulnerable members of the community; and
- If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.
The following Town of Bracebridge facilities are available during regular hours for members of the community to visit for respite from the cold:
- Municipal Office, 1000 Taylor Court;
- Bracebridge Sportsplex, 110 Clearbrook Trail
- Muskoka Lumber Community Centre; 56 Salmon Avenue;
