The wintry weather conditions in Bruce and Grey counties forced the closure of schools throughout the region today.
All Bluewater District School Board, Bruce-Grey Catholic Board and and French Catholic Board (Saint-Dominique-Savio) schools are closed today.
Snow fell overnight and more is in the forecast today, with squall warnings in place for parts of the region. Another five-to-10 centimetres is expected. And forecasters say blowing snow will create hazardous driving conditions.
“Northerly wind gusts of 50 to 60 km/h will result in blowing snow and further reduce visibility,” Environment Canada says in its snow squall warning. “Travel will likely be hazardous. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.”
