Saugeen Shores police say the remains of a man who went missing while fishing along the Saugeen River have been found.
Police say back on January 27th, 2024, they began a missing person investigation after Lijun S. failed to report to his family after fishing on the Saugeen River.
Police say, “It is suspected that Lijun was swept away down the river in a large ice flow.”
They say investigators worked with the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit and Emergency Response Team to assist in locating Lijun, but could not find him.
They say on November 15th, 2025, human remains were located on the shore near a seasonal cottage on Saugeen First Nation.
Saugeen Shores police say in coordination with the OPP and the Centre of Forensic Sciences, the remains were positively confirmed through DNA comparison to be Lijun S.
The say, “Our thoughts are with Lijun’s family.”
