The 2027 Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game will be in Owen Sound.
The Ontario Hockey League announced Monday morning the showcase event for the league’s top NHL-draft eligible talent will be held at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre on Jan. 20, 2027. It will keep the same format as this year, pitting the top prospects from the Western Conference against those from the Eastern Conference.
“Owen Sound holds a unique place in our league as a community that brings big-time energy and enthusiasm in a close-knit setting,” says OHL Commissioner Bryan Crawford in a release. “The Attack have a passionate fan base and a long tradition of outstanding support for the OHL. The Bayshore will provide an electric atmosphere for our top prospects, and we know the Owen Sound community will embrace this opportunity to host NHL scouts and hockey fans from across the OHL.”
Attack President Dr. Bob Severs says the team is excited to welcome the hockey world to Owen Sound next year: “Our franchise has a proud history of hosting special hockey events dating back to the original Canada/Russia Series in 1993 through to the Hockey Day in Canada celebration in 2023 and the city’s annual HockeyFest. These events are best staged in communities with a deep understanding and passion for our sport and that accurately describes the incredible Attack hockey fans of Grey and Bruce Counties.”
Owen Sound Mayor Ian Boddy looks forward to the opportunity to showcase the city through the Top Prospects Game.
“This event represents an excellent opportunity to showcase our city, our facilities and our dedication to hockey on a national stage. The economic and community impact will be significant, and we’re excited to work with the Attack, the OHL and our local hockey community to create a memorable experience for all participants and visitors,” he says.
Owen Sound will be the third host city of the Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game. The inaugural event was held in 2025 in Brantford, and drew close to 200 NHL scouts. The 2026 game is being held this Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. Owen Sound Attack forwards Pierce Mbuyi and Cole Zurawski are taking part.
A release says Owen Sound Attack season ticket holders will be given first access to securing tickets for the 2027 Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game.
Additional special events around the game will be announced in the coming months.
“We’re looking to take some of the things we did for Hockey Day in Canada … We’re trying to build the event to make it bigger. And that’s what the league is looking to do,” says Attack Marketing and Communications Director Greg Hoddinott.
