Tanner Lam scored a hat trick to lead the Kitchener Rangers to a 7-4 win over the Owen Sound Attack in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday night at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
Jack Pridham scored twice, and Sam O’Reilly and Gabe Chiarot added goals for Kitchener (25-11-3-1), which never trailed in the game.
Blake Munnings, Lenny Greenberg, Noah Roberts and Jake Crawford scored for the Attack (18-19-1-3), which dropped its third straight game and 10th in the past 11.
It was a one goal game until late in the third period, then Chiarot fired a puck off the board just trying to clear the defensive zone for Kitchener … and it bounced down the ice and landed in the empty net to put the Rangers up 6-4 with 46 seconds remaining.
Pridham would add another 19 seconds later to ice it for the Rangers.
Jason Schaubel made 13 saves in the win, while Trenten Bennett stopped 42 taking the loss. The Rangers outshot the Attack 49-17 while going 1 for 3 on the power play; Owen Sound was 1 for 3 as well, but allowed a short-handed goal against.
The Attack are off a week until their next game on Saturday, Jan. 17 against London Knights at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
