
Bruce County council is going to consider altering the memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the Bruce C Nuclear Project.
The MOU, which is currently endorsed by the councils of Bruce County, Kincardine, and the Town of Saugeen Shores, establishes a collaborative framework for municipal engagement for the Bruce C Nuclear Project.
The Bruce C Nuclear Project at Bruce Power aims to create an option to build up to 4,800 megawatts of nuclear capacity at the site.
The municipalities part of the MOU participate in the federal Integrated Impact Assessment and community readiness, as well as work with each other to ensure funding and community benefit agreements meet their individual needs.
After reviewing the MOU, Kincardine as requested some minor additions impacting childcare and libraries as well as allow any municipality to back out of the MOU.
Council will consider signing the amended MOU during its meeting on Thursday.
